Staying near the Virginia Horse Center
A quiet cottage about 25 minutes from the show grounds, to rest up between long days in the ring.
See the cottagesThe Virginia Horse Center sits on 600 acres just north of Lexington, with about 745 permanent stalls, indoor and outdoor show rings and a 4,000-seat indoor coliseum. It hosts eventing, hunter/jumper shows and community events through the year, and many of them are free to watch.
The Inn at Firmstone Manor is about 22 miles away, roughly 25 minutes on I-64. Riders, families and trainers stay with us for the quiet after a long show day: a full kitchen for early breakfasts and late dinners, fast Wi-Fi for checking ride times and results, and a peaceful 13-acre estate to come home to.
During a show
Big shows fill Lexington's hotels quickly, so book as soon as the show dates are out. Our three cottages sit side by side, so a barn group or family can take two or all three, with up to 10 guests in all. Self check-in starts at 3 p.m., so you can arrive whenever you're done at the barn.
Between classes
Downtown Lexington is about 10 minutes from the show grounds. Blue Sky Bakery is good for a quick lunch, and for dinner there's ZunZun, The Psalms or Heliotrope Brewery. Devils Backbone's Outpost taproom is right off I-64 and I-81, on the way back toward the inn. On a day off, walk the Chessie Nature Trail along the Maury River or browse the shops downtown.
